Improving the living conditions of people with hearing disabilities in Albania 2

The initiative is part of the process of revising the education system in Albania according to the priorities defined by the 2014-2020 programming period.

The project objectives are:

– Improvement of students’ basic and transversal skills, essential for personal development, active citizenship, social inclusion and entry into the world of work.

– Implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education.

The inclusion of technology within the education system represents the current trend that will affect future generations. The project supports the implementation of the ICT strategy in Albania, which aims to provide ICT and inclusion for all through the management and enhancement of the e-learning platform.

The initiative is in line with the National Plan for people with disabilities 2016-2020 which provides for programs for the identification and prevention of disability, coordination of social policies with a view to decentralization and integration of school curricula and training programs; introduces a program for the early diagnosis or prevention of disability, coordinates the health and social systems, in line with the decentralization policies of social assistance and the integration of educational curricula and teaching processes.

This initiative is part of the Albanian National Strategy for Social Inclusion 2015-2020 and the Law on Inclusive Education for Children.

This project also contributes to the achievement of the National Plan for Implementation Objective.

The program of the Italian Cooperation in the education sector in Albania aims to improve the school system and align it as much as possible with European standards. Consistent with the strategy of the Albanian government, the Italian Cooperation has focused its efforts on secondary education, through the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures and the supply of teaching materials for schools.
