The new Audiology Cabinet

The new Audiology Cabinet, at the Pediatric Hospital near the University Hospital Centre in Tirana, officially opened its doors today and will be at the service of all new-borns and children with hearing difficulties.

Now this cabinet, equipped with modern tools and trained medical personnel, by well-known doctors and experts in Italy, has started working with specialized visits for babies and children referred by the 4 regional hospitals of Durrës, Fier, Elbasan and Korca. These hospitals, thanks to the support with equipment and training for doctors and nurses, already provide hearing tests for all new-borns and refer cases for more in-depth checks to the Audiology Cabinet in Tirana.

Participants in this ceremony were Flutura Beqo, Director of the Hospital Service, in the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Stefania Vizzaccaro, Director of the Italian Development Cooperation Agency, Anila Meco, Executive Director, Save the Children in Albania, Dritan Alushani, Head of Infant Surgery Service and Laureta Tafili, Pediatrics Administrator, Daniela Nika, Pediatrician.

These interventions are part of the project “Improving the living conditions of people with hearing disabilities in Albania”, which is financed by AICS Tirana and implemented by Save the Children in partnership with the Independent Forum for the Albanian Woman.
